IT'S OUR TENTH VILLAGE SHOW!
SATURDAY 17 SEPTEMBER 2-5 PM
HEATHFIELD LOWER SCHOOL
CADDINGTON
It will be animals galore at the Caddington Village Show this year! As well as our popular fun dog show, we also have Petwise Mobile Petting Zoo, a travelling zoo with furry, scaly and creep crawly creatures to meet. Get your face painted, treat yourself to a hog roast or some delicious fudge or even have your nails done and then take a walk around our craft stalls for some early Christmas shopping. Don't forget to come into the hall to see all the fabulous entries for our produce show - as well as fruit, veg and flowers there's jam, cakes and crafts to admire as well as all the hard work of our local children, school and community groups. Finally there's a cream tea to enjoy and perhaps a bounce on the bouncy castle - or perhaps you can stay on the bucking bronco longer than anyone else? See you there!
History of the Show
The first Caddington Village Show was held at the
Baptist Church in 2002 as a produce and dog show. The following year
the show moved to its current venue at Heathfield Lower School, in the
heart of the village, as a produce show and craft fair. In 2005 the
organisers decided to take a well earned rest.
For a while the show was threatened with closure. However a group
of mums from the village decided the show was worth saving and decided
to try attracting more villagers to the show by attempting to provide
something for everyone. They revived the dog show, expanded the craft
fair, provided children's entertainment and brought in a brass band which added to the
atmosphere. As a result the day was a great success and we were
overwhelmed by the response from the villagers and village businesses.
More recently we have added even more
exciting and fun events - a climbing wall, hog roast, morris dancing,
puppet show and travelling zoo. All this is thanks to the generous
sponsorship, advertising and
donations from local businesses, to whom we are very grateful.
Caddington Village Show continues to be a non-profit, volunteer-run
group that aims to celebrate village life. Any profits made will be
ploughed back into the next show and other events we may organise for
the village in the future.
